I wish there was someone in Canada who had the courage or the integrity to take this issue seriously.

The USA is showing us how it's done. We should take this free education and apply it here, in Canada's interest.

100% and thanks to Sam Cooper most of us would also still be in the dark with this issue had he and Katarina Szulc not been proactive in the all the ways they have been.

If PP ever gets into power I will be like a hot poker on his butt with this issue. I am done with trying to point this out to the current government. But I do have letters written that will go to the full Senate in the New Year with links to Sam's article and Katarina's podcast.

Could not agree more. It's pointless to try communicating with the current Liberal government. (Liberal in name only)

Sam Cooper is the single shining light in Canadian journalism. If I ruled Canada, his posts and articles would be mandatory reading for all Canadians.

I bet Don Davies would. Especially after this speech:

Thanks for the link. Davies is hilarious - hooked me in the first 10 seconds. And the look on Carny's face near the end was worth every single second. If anyone hasn't seen this, take a look. Davies could easily do stand-up comedy.

All covert influence operations like this one start with a fantasy name: "Linda Sun" is not "Linda Sun" but Sun Wen, in Chinese: 孙雯. There never was a "Linda Sun", and neither 孙 nor 雯 would translate to anything like "Linda". Same for her partner "Chris Hu", who really is Hu Xiao, Chinese: 胡骁. Xiao is not "Chris".

In Chinese, their first names are Wen and Xiao, so "Linda" would call her partner Xiao, and "Chris" would call her Wen. "Linda" and "Chris" do not exist, and no doubt their American passports show Sun Wen and Hu Xiao. Both are Chinese patrios, after all. It's for this reason the prosecutors in this case have confiscated their US passports and ordered them not to seek contact with the Chinese consulate for fear they'd try and get Chinese passports with fake Chinese names and flee the country.

The MSS correctly identified a tendency within the US to assume that, if someone is called "Linda Sun" and they appear of Chinese descent, they must be "Chinese-American" or "American-Chinese", and that they just happened to have close or remote Chinese ancestors but that they're as American as you and me, pretty much like Andrew Cuomo might have two parents of Italian descent but nobody would be assuming he's participating in Italian elections or similar.

In reality, Sun Wen assumed the fantasy name "Linda Sun" to feign loyalty to the American flag. Her true loyalty never ceased to be solely to the goals of the CCP, just like she was always Sun Wen.

In that sense, Chinese assets like Sun Wen view a name like "Linda Sun" less like a convencience to American peers and more like a nom de guerre.

And next year she will use a different name, like Anne Wen. Here in Canada new Chinese immigrants use different combos of their real & invented names all the time, it makes them harder to track, especially with driving infractions.

Fascinating story & we can only hope there is a significant jail term coming once they are convicted.

In the drug recovery world we know that drug addicts can only continue to be drug addicts with the help of their enablers which includes family (until they know better), other drug addicts, systems that are set up to keep them doing what they are doing, drug dealers and many others. The cartels are also enabled by those who play the games they are playing. No one should be surprised that the cartels are able to do what they are do because they are being assisted by people from all walks. Take that away from the cartels and most would not last long. There is a vicious cycle that is played in this game and once people are players they learn they can't un play that game. But let's get mad at Trump who has shown he can't be bought and he is clear on why cartels and their affiliates have to culled or at the very least, jailed for life from society and not given more chances. El Salvador understood this mission and it has paid off very well for them. Trump also understands the mission.

There are few situations in life that are black and white but I do think this is one of them.

How many more are there? Just like her? Around the world? In every country? China has been at this for decades. That is how the Chinese think. In decades down the road to the future.

Continues to be amazing that Canada cannot bring cases like this with much more dangerous perpetrators. It's like we have no intereste.

If we go back to 1994 and the initial U.S. indictment of Alan Eagleson, Canadian enforcement has consistently lagged behind American investigations. Hopefully, this case and more like it, will apply sufficient pressure on Canadian authorities.

One can only imagine what is taking place in Canada regarding China where we are being far less vigilant along with our lax laws. We're in deep.
