This is a clearly written thought provoking article. However, it also feels like the leaders of Canada and United States have dug in their heels. Trump is Trump, and carney is trying to outdo Trump. I get the distinct impression. Canadians have no idea as to the issues with China because the newspapers tend to gloss over and support Carney 100%. As well, Canadians seem to think that being vindictive is the right approach as is creating a deep alliance with China. Here’s the rub, United States is watching, and there are many other things that could go wrong between these two countries.

China has been implementing their "plan" for over 5 decades. Brilliant actually. Right from the get go, I believed Trump was trying to shut down China through Canada. So.....yes, we are the Trojan Horse and far too many of our politicians are compromised now. China is aligned with Russia and Iran, which is in and of itself, terrifying. However, they are not fond of Islam, so how that all plays out? "Since 2017, international human rights organizations and leaked documents estimate that over a million Uyghur, Kazakh, and other predominantly Muslim minorities have been subjected to mass internment, re-education, and forced assimilation programs in Xinjiang." Glad I am old and hopefully will be long gone before this all comes to a head.
Pierre and Dean….. you mention that the Chinese labourers …are “exploited” by the ChineseCommunist Party. How so….. as in the last few decades the Chinese population have been brought out of extreme poverty to living a prosperous life?
OR. ….are you referring to the imprisoned terrorist Muslim Uyghurs that are given a “choice” to work in the aluminum manufacturing industry and the fish farms in desert areas of China?. A UN Human Rights reports clearly states … they are given the “choice” to work in such a job or they are “forced” to return to prison. Geezzz ….it’s not a good idea to have terrorists released from prison… is it?
What is not reported by the UN……..is “IF” these …. Muslim terrorists receive a salary while out of prison and working! (Employed?). if that is what you are referring to…. well….. it’s not fair when it comes to trade….. if the prisons are not paid.
