Not surprising. I am kind of surprised that his defence was “I was on a mission so secret, no one else knew about it”. He must have thought the jury was a bunch of rubes.
They say if you're innocent have a "judge only" trial. If you're guilty opt for a jury. They're easier to fool (in theory) than a judge. Seems like the jury got it right this time.
