What is the role of Andrew Lo, executive assistant to Tung Chee Hwa and vice director of CEFC? He died suddenly during the case due to "flu" But isn't it eerily similar to to Shoucheng Zhang's death in Meng Wanzhou's case? Also I heard that Patrick Ho was victim to honey pot from CCP, which was briefly mentioned in Gal Luft's FBI interview report. Patrick Ho has been awfully active on Youtube and publicly recently. Meanwhile around the time this case was unfolding, CCP red families were making inroads investing in to Canada: Hu xiaofai’s anbang, he was later purged by Xi, Polyculture, founder was Wang zen, which was mentioned in this podcast. Polyculture closed in 2023, perhaps they don’t want to lose face, as Canada would be quick to sanction due to their ties with supplying Russians with light weapons.

I considered Andrew Lo's death extremely curious. He was not old and reported to be in good health, then checks himself into the hospital and passes away. I believe this happened just after Ye Xuanning died and it made me think Ye's replacement had no elegance and perhaps this was a Li Keqiang-type erasing of someone. Yes, re Ho, honey pot with some guy, right? You have excellent input, would enjoy having 皮蛋豆腐 with you and chatting about all this.

One has to factor in CH Tung's sale of family business Orient Overseas in July 2017. All of Tung's children have American citizenship. Beijing does not necessarily wish to have intermediary such as a HK company or Cantonese to trade with the West. From Transnational organized crime to shipping to even HK protest, Beijing seeks to install their own cadres and management simply because Xi wishes more loyalty.

There is no doubt Ye have been kingmaker for Xi, and Xi's father was exiled to Shenzhen for nearly 40 years, but Ye family or the Canto/Hakka Gang is not needed once Xi reached Zhongnanhai. Why would Xi wish to be associated with illicit activity when he is promoting Belt and Road and "the China dream"? Hence you see the purge of Hakka/Canto gang started with Wan Qingliang in Oct 2014. Xi is more adept in power grab than in management of a nation. There is no replacement for Ye Xuanning, none of the Xi loyalists have the capacity to run overseas operations, Ye jianming is too young (in the eyes of Beijing) to run independently. I suspect Xi chose Ye Jianming due to his Fujian background, it was Xi's call, the Ye family wouldn't choose Fujian over their own Cantonese.

CEFC scandal started December 2017 and the company defaulted in May 2018. Ho's assistant was the alleged honeypot "Zhang Ah" she used to work at Ta Kung Pao, which is notorious for CCP state-owned newspaper. Now she worked at Shanxi office prior to becoming Ho's assistant. Shanxi is birthplace of CCP, Xi spent his formative years in Shanxi as well.

Very interesting. CEFC, Meng's case and HK protest were turning point to US-China relations, and perhaps China-West relations.
