OTTAWA — In this podcast interview with Jason James of BNN, taped shortly before Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Beijing trip, I lay out why I expected the visit to deepen long-running elite commercial ties between Chinese Communist Party-aligned networks and Canadian industries — relationships that have shaped Liberal Asia policy for decades.
The changes that Xi's external pressure has brought about in Canada are profound. For example, Carney'e vision and agenda for Canada echoes China in that his New World Order as outlined in Davos is a mercantilist totalitarianism run by Liberal Laurentian elites and oligarchs. It means more regulation, not less, policy to preserve & enrich the status quo & stifle competition that might threaten them. These changes are also due to Carney's preference to a centralized command economy, social credit based society and censorship governance rather than an open market driven economy. Further, a new trade deal with the US meant that his net zero policy platform would have to be abandoned in order to put Canadian business on a more competitive footing. On the Canadian domestic front, the grass roots populist Alberta independence movement is catching fire, with Albertans forming long lines in every small town and city to sign the petition to hold a referendum on independence. Should Carney go to an election after the budget seeking a carte blanche mandate and win a majority , I expect his response to Alberta independence will be draconian. 2026 is shaping up to be a year for the Canadian history books.
President Trump is the biggest support and contributor to peace the Western Hemisphere will ever have the luxury to see, hear or know! As a Canadian who prays and tries hard to make it different, Canada needs similar treatment to Venezuela, Panama, Iran - to sever Carney and China from the Western Hemisphere - not later…NOW!!
Sadly very few Canadians see the connections because they are so often covert.
