OTTAWA — A Conservative MP who demanded that Canada investigate whether a man accused of threatening to kill a Falun Gong protester outside China’s Toronto consulate was acting for Beijing has received a response from Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand that leaves the central question unanswered: whether the suspect is a Chinese diplomat or otherwise connected to the Chinese government.
In an October 22 letter Anand confirmed that Global Affairs Canada was closely following the September 22 confrontation, which involved a peaceful Falun Gong demonstrator on the public sidewalk outside the consulate. She said Canadian officials were communicating with domestic security agencies about possible international connections and that both Toronto police and the RCMP were investigating.
But the minister did not identify the suspect, establish whether he held diplomatic status, or indicate whether Canada had sought an explanation from Chinese authorities.
The response followed an October 6 letter from Conservative MP Jacob Mantle, associate shadow minister for foreign affairs, who called for an investigation and demanded that the individual be removed from Canada if he was confirmed to be a Chinese diplomat or another non-Canadian employed by a foreign power.
Mantle’s complaint centred on video footage of a man wearing a jacket bearing a Chinese flag who confronted Falun Gong demonstrators, destroyed protest materials, and allegedly threatened violence while invoking Chinese law and asserting Chinese jurisdiction over a Toronto sidewalk.
Anand’s response acknowledged the seriousness of the incident but offered no public determination of the suspect’s identity or possible foreign-government connections.
“Global Affairs Canada is aware of, and closely following, the troubling incident,” Anand wrote.
She added that officials were in communication with domestic security agencies concerning any possible international nexus and that she and Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree were closely monitoring the matter.
Yet the letter did not directly answer Mantle’s central request: whether the man captured on video had any official relationship with Beijing, and what diplomatic action Ottawa would take if such a connection were established.
The Chinese consulate previously denied any connection to the individual in a statement to Rebel News. That denial has not been independently resolved by publicly disclosed findings from Canadian authorities.

Here we have a poor response from two useless government officials to a serious situation, this is in all likelihood due to our prime minister's love affair with Xi Jing pin, we are being led down a path we will never be able to stop. Come on elbows up people wake up and smell the roses!!

Global Affairs Canada is a joke in the world. Global Affairs sends ccp spies to international institution as cdn envoys and protects ccp violent offenders from cdn citizens.
